Alma offers three very different city parks. The main city park features an excellent municipal pool as well as lots of trees, picnic areas and the Hoesch Memorial Public Library. The second park, near the municipal golf course, features baseball diamonds where the American Legion league is among several that play baseball and softball every summer. Alma’s third park is a “pocket park” at the starting point for the Pheasant Ridge trail, with lush grass and trees, great scenery, picnic tables and benches and a gazebo.

A three mile paved trail along the shoreline of Harlan County Lake was completed in 2005. From the picnic area and gazebo at the west end to the boat ramp and campground at Methodist Cove on the east end, the Pheasant Ridge Trail meanders along the woods and shoreline. Lighting was added to the entire trail in 2006, making it enjoyable year-round.
